Many congratulations to the Lionesses, Sarina and the support team for winning the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022.
It’s an incredible achievement and a historic sporting moment. Everyone at the FA and across the country are so proud of you all. This team of Lionesses have been outstanding ambassadors, both on and off the pitch, from the first game to the last.
Each and every member of this squad has left an indelible and enduring mark on women’s football in England. Not only have they captured the hearts of the nation, but they have also broken down boundaries. They have left a lasting legacy that will positively impact women’s and girls’ football in this country for generations to come.
The support for this England team has been wonderful to see throughout the tournament. From the sold out stadiums, to millions watching on television, everyone has been captivated by this special group of players and their performances.
Wembley Stadium was a fitting stage for this historic moment. The support tonight from the fans and the atmosphere inside the stadium was extraordinary and created an occasion that will live long in the memory.
It has been an absolute honour to host the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 in England and to help drive the women’s game forward across Europe. These tournaments require years of hard work, dedication and meticulous planning, and everyone involved should be proud of the results. Thank you to the whole tournament team, volunteers and UEFA, it would not have been possible without you and your tireless work. You should be very proud of your role in delivering a ground-breaking and record-setting event.
We should also thank every team across the tournament. You and your passionate supporters have played their part in this wonderful event. It has been our pleasure to host you in England.
Thank you to everyone who has played a part in making this the most successful Women’s EUROs of all time. It has been both a privilege and a pleasure to be part of this tournament.
Congratulations to the Lionesses. European Champions.
