A round-up from the Emirates FA Cup third round qualifying as Beckenham beat Dartford

Saturday 17 Sep 2022

Beckenham Town produced the upset of the Emirates FA Cup Second Round Qualifying as they beat Dartford 2-1 at Princes Park.

The Becks had never reached the Third Round Qualifying before, but produced a great performance in Kent to get past a side two divisions above them.

Robert Carter was the hero as he produced an 88th-minute winner after Charlie Sheringham had cancelled out Harvey Brand's opener.

The televised lunchtime kick-off saw Walton & Hersham draw 2-2 with Chatham Town in an exciting clash at Elmbridge Xcel Sports Hub.

The home side's stadium attendance record was shattered for the third time this year with 1020 packed in for the clash.

The Swans went 2-0 up through strikes from Jordan Adeyemi and Arsen Ujkaj.

However, the visitors pulled one back through club captain and goalscoring midfielder Jack Evans before Fabio Saraiva set up a Tuesday night replay.

FA Cup debutants Bury AFC will also contest a replay after letting a one-goal lead slip in their 1-1 draw away against Lancaster City.

The visitors went ahead through Lewis Gilboy but Paul Jarvis scored in the 65th minute to snatch a draw.

South Shields recorded a convincing 5-0 win against Shildon, while Alvechurch also impressed in a 4-0 victory over Harborough Town

Binfield won 4-0, easing past Tonbridge Angels and Boston United won by the same scoreline in their clash against Lichfield City.

Scott Pollock scored for Boston before Jake Wright added a pair of fine headers either side of half-time.

Will Atkinson added the fourth in one of the finest performances of the round.

Chasetown also impressed in a 4-2 away win against AFC Telford United, while Canvey Island's cup run came to an end with a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of St Ives Town.

Less than a week after sacking long-term manager Gavin Rose, Dulwich Hamlet beat Margate 2-1 and Curzon Ashton beat FC United of Manchester 3-2 away from home.

Friday night's game saw Chesham United and Bracknell Town play out an entertaining 2-2 draw, with George Knight's 98th-minute for the Robins equaliser forcing a replay at Bottom Meadow.

Chelmsford City recorded the biggest win of the round, securing a 6-1 win over Kings Langley.

On Sunday, Herne Bay will host Ashford United with a spot in the third qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup up for grabs.
