The morning of 15 April 1989 began with hope for both Liverpool and Nottingham Forest as they prepared for an FA Cup semi-final tie in Sheffield.
But it would ultimately end in tragedy and a day that will never be forgotten.
Twenty-four thousand Liverpool fans went to Hillsborough to watch a game of football. Ninety-six did not come back and another suffered life-changing injuries from which he would never recover; a disaster that touched so many lives and changed the face of English football forever.
The thoughts of the FA and the whole of the football family remain with the survivors, their families and those affected by the tragedy.
